Queen for the Day honoring: Princess Heather

I found this very fun Queen For the Day game on the Splitcoast Stampers website. When I found out that my friend Heather Prince from the Treehouse Stamps Design Team was being honored I just had to play along. Here is the card I made:

I made this card based on the inspiration of Heather's Sharing in Your Sorrow Card.
Unfortunately I have been needing a lot of sympathy cards this summer so I think I just naturally gravitated towards that theme. The sentiment and image were created in SU MDS.

Here are the supplies I used:

Stamps: Thoughts & Prayers, For All You Do
Paper: Close to Cocoa, Barely Banana, Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow
Accessories: Fiskers Embossing Plate, Scalloped Square Punch, Scalloped Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Grossgrain Ribbon, Pearls, Rhinestones
Techniques: MDS

THT063 - Under the Sea Challenge

Here is my card for this week’s Treehouse Challenge – Under the Sea! I am having so much fun being the August guest design team member for THS!

I used the digital stamp set Octopus Friend from Treehouse Stamps for the image and the sentiment.

I’m really excited about the background paper I made for this card. I’m not big on making my own background paper but I had this idea and thought I’d try it out. This technique gives the effect of water drops. Here is how I did it in three easy steps…

Step 1 – Dry Emboss

I took a sheet of Navy Textured cardstock from JoAnn’s and ran it through the cuttlebug with the Fisker’s Bubbles Folder.

Step 2 – Crystal Effects

I took my Stampin Up Crystal Effects and created the water drop effect over the embossed bubbles.

Step 3 – Let it dry
I let it dry flat overnight. I think it was dry in 2-3 hours but I was sleeping anyway so when I woke up – voila – bubbles!

The end result looks like real water drops on my paper. Here are a couple pics in process...

Here are the supply details for my project:

Paper: Whisper White, Navy Textured, Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral

Ink: Basic Black, Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral, Bashful Blue

Accessories: Cuttlebug, Fiskers Bubbles Embossing Plate, SU Crystal Effects, SU Scallop Edge Punch, SU Scalloped Oval Punch, SU Lg Oval Punch, Marvy Scallop Circle Punch, Marvy Large Circle Punch, Small Pearls, Elastic String, Sponge, Paper Piercing Tool

Techniques: Handmade DP, Paper Piercing, Masking

THT062 Sketch Challenge & WT283

Here is my sample for today's Treehouse Stamps Weekly Challenge and for SCS WT283.  This is my first sample as guest Design Team Member for the month of August.  The stamps used are Treehouse August Release digital stamps.  I just think these kids in costumes are so adorable!  I think I'm getting hooked on digi stamps.  The theme for today's Way to Use it Challenge is BUTTONS!  Who doesn't love buttons!

Here's why I LOVE digital Stamps:

1)  They are really easy to work with.
2)  They don't take up any space in my craft room.
3)  They cost less than rubber or clear stamps.
4)  No clean up required.

Check out the Treehouse Digi Stamps.

Digi Stamps:  Candy Corn Kid, Dino Kid, Ghost Kid, Halloween Extras
Paper:  (Stampin Up)  Pumpkin Pie, Elegant Eggplant, Barely Banana, Whisper White, Vellum, Basic Black
Accessories:  Tag Corner Punch, Black Grossgrain Ribbon, Button, Silver Elastic Thread

Today's challenge is a sketch.  Here is the sketch.

Thanks for checking out my sample for today's challenge.

Ways To Use It - Treehouse Stamps Contest

As the guest design team member for Treehouse Stamps for the month of August I am using only Treehouse stamps this month.  I'm excited to show off their awesome stamps!

I made this card for today's Ways to Use it Challenge over at SCS. The challenge was "Stick It".  You could either use pins or sticks.  What a FUN challenge.

I decided to do some paper piercing because it isn't an element I use often.

I used the Treehouse August Contest image for this one. The sentiment is a new release from Treehouse Stamps. I think it goes perfectly with this little image.  For more information on how to enter this months contest click here:  Treehouse Stamps August Contest

I used the computer to color 90% of the image. This was my first attempt at coloring a digi stamp on the computer and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I was used the Stampin Up color codes to get close matches to the paper colors.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card!
