My Groovy Bookmark Card and Tutorial

Supplies
Stamps:
Paper:  Stampers Select White CS (Papertrey Ink), Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, Beach Babe DP, Vellum
Ink: Memento Black
Accessories:  Prismacolor Pencils, Mineral Spirits, Blending Stump, Three For You flower punch, scallop edge punch, ticket corner punch, small hole punch, gold ribbon, SU Pearls.

This week's Challenge at Totally Stampalicious is to make a BOOKMARK!  For my bookmark I used the super cool Hippie Dottie Stamp set from the Totally Stampalcious Bugaboo Line.

I used Papertrey Ink Stampers Select White Cardstock for the base and image on this.  I LOVE this paper!  It's a great weight (110 lb) for a card base and it works perfectly for stamping and coloring images!  This is the first time I've tried this paper and I'm so happy with the results!

I struggled a bit with how to attach the bookmark to the card.  I wanted something that would hold the bookmark in place and not cover it up at the same time.  I came up with this idea to create a pocket out of vellum.  It's super easy to do.

Here's a quick tutorial on the pocket.

Step 1:  Make a Square that measures roughly the same as the width of your bookmark.  My bookmark is just under 2 inches so I used a 2 inch square.

Step 2:  Cut the square in half on the diagonal.  I just lined up two points from the square on my paper trimmer and cut.  (Be sure to hold the paper down on both sides of the paper or else it will move and you won't get a straight cut)

Here's what your square will look like
Step 3:  Tape your two triangles together to make a pocket.  For this step I checked the width of the pocket against the width of my bookmark to be sure there was a wide enough opening.  My finished pocket measures 2 7//8 inches wide by 2 inches tall.

Step 3:  Run Tape along all the outside edges and position on your card.

Step 4:  Decorate.

I'm also including this card in the following challenges:

Tiddly Inks Challenge:  Bookmarks
Pixie Dust Studio Challenge:  Tag Time

I had a lot of fun making this bookmark card set!  We have more great bookmark inspiration on the Totally Stampalicious Blog.  I hope you get a chance to play along in our bookmark challenge this week!

Thanks for checking out my card and tutorial!

Christmas in July Anything Goes

Today's challenge at Bugaboo Stamps Catch the Bug Challenge Blog is Anything Goes.  I decided to end the week with the same color combo that I started the week with - certainly celery, chocolate chip, and whisper white.  The image I used is one of my all time favorites - Christmas JJ.  She's looking fabulous and festive in her reindeer costume isn't she?

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card!  I'll be back on Monday with a new challenge for Totally Stampalicious!  Have a FAB*U*LOUS Weekend!

Christmas in July Snow

I made this adorable card for today's Challenge at Bugaboo Stamps Christmas in July Challenge.  Today's challenge theme is snow.  I knew Eggbert Winter would be perfect for this "snow" theme.  For the layout I used this week's Sweet Sketch Wednesday Sketch 111.  I love the Navy, White and Silver color combo for Christmas and I think it went perfectly with the snow theme!  The sentiment stamp is from Amuse Art Stamps.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card!  I'll be back tomorrow with my card for the Anything Goes challenge at Bugaboo.

Bugaboo Christmas in July - Free Digi Day!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Ruby Free Digi, Unknown Christmas Sentiment Stamp
Paper:  Real Red, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Heidi Grace Designs DP
Ink:  Barely Banana, Blush Blossom, Real Red, Certainly Celery, Garden Green, Basic Black
Accessories:  Scallop Edge Punch, Modern Label Punch, Snowflakes, Gel Pen

Today I'm sharing a card I made for today's challenge at Catch the Bug Challenge Blog.  Each day this week is a new Christmas challenge and today's challenge is to use the Ruby FREE digital image they provided on your project.

This is the first time I've used a Fixatif on my digital image.  I bought some Krylon Workable Fixatif and followed the directions on the bottle to set the image.  I let it dry for an hour and then colored it using my Stampin Up markers.  I'm really happy with how this turned out.  The only down side is the dry time.  My other option is to buy some Copic Markers (or other non-water based markers) but then what would I do with all my Stampin' Up markers?

This card measures 6.5"  x 3.25"I was inspired to try this size when I read Emily Leiphart's Blog post today (HERE).  I don't know if I've ever done a 6.5" x 3.25" card but I really like it!  I also think this is the perfect size card to use if you're giving a gift of money or a check.  Now I just need to find an envelope that this will fit into.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card!  I'd love to know what kind of markers you use and how they work with digi stamps!

I'm also entering this card in the following challenges:

Craft us Crazy - Christmas in July
Digistamps 4 Joy ~ Christmas
Fairy Knoll ~ Christmas in July
Simon Says Stamp ~ Anything Goes
Simply Create ~ Christmas Time
Stamp Something ~ Christmas in July

New Truck Gus 1-2-3

This week's Totally Stampalicious Challenge is a recipe challenge.  Here's the recipe:

1 - Ribbon
2 - Different Patterns of paper
3 - Embellishments (bling, brads, whatever)

I used the Totally Stampalicious New Truck Gus stamp set for the image and the sentiment.   As you can see my ribbon is minimal but it is there.  The two patterned papers are from my scrap pile.  I used 3 yellow brads for my embelishments.  It's getting late so that's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by and checking out my 1,2,3 Challenge Card!

Wishing for a Bubble Bath

This week's Totally Stampalicious Challenge is a color challenge - Pink & RedI used this week's Card Patterns Sketch 99 for the layout.  This was actually a really quick card to put together.  The image is Scarlette Bubble Bath.

This card was inspired by my sweet daughter Emily.  She will be taking bubble baths for the next 3 weeks because she fractured her left wrist (she fell at the Bounce House).  Her cast is hot pink so it really fits with this week's color challenge.  When she found out that she would have to take baths instead of showers she was not at all happy.  Once she got in the tub full of bubbles she decided maybe this bath thing wasn't so bad.  We're going to be doing some extra pampering at our house over the next couple of weeks!

Supplies
Stamps:  Scarlette Bubble Bath (Bugaboo & Totally Stampalicious) , Big Bold Birthday (SU)
Paper:  Pretty in Pink, Real Red, Pretty in Pink DP
Ink:  Pretty in Pink, Crumb Cake, Blush Blossom, Real Red, Black Staz-On
Accessories:  Pearls, Word Window Punch, Eyelet Border Punch, Large Circle Punch, Large Scallop Circle Punch, SU Pretty in Pink Ribbon, Gel Pen, Stickles

Recycled Let it Snow Stella

This is my entry for this week's Totally Stampalicious Recycle It Challenge!  This challenge is perfect for me.  I am passionate about recycling.  We recycle as much as possible at my house.

I'm super excited to share this project with you!  For my recycled material I used clear plastic packaging (left over from a Cuttlebug folder).  I ran it through the Cuttlebug with the SU Snowflake embossing folder - I found a tutorial for this on Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas - HERE.

The stamp I used is a digital Stella from Bugaboo she can be found digitally Here. She is also available in clear rubber from Totally Stampalicious Here.  I printed the image out on SU Shimmery White paper to add a little extra sparkle to it.  I used the red brads to secure the plastic panel to the image panel.

I split up the sentiment in GIMP and continued it on the inside of the card.  The inside reads:

Supplies:
Stamps:  Stella November Calendar Month
Paper:  Real Red, Basic Black, Shimmery White
Ink:  Real Red, Basic Black, Going Grey
Accessories:  Plastic Packaging, Real Red Brads, Sheer Black Ribbon,
Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, SU Snowflake embossing folder.

Thanks for checking out my Recycled Winter Stella Project.  You can play along with this week's Totally Stampalicious Recycle Challenge Here.

(ETA) This also qualifies for this week's Stampin B's Challenge to use a ribbon with no bow or tie so I'm playing along with my friends at Stampin' B's too this week!  You can play along Here.

Thanks for checking out my card!

Just Fake It - Ruby

It's a busy day here so I'll make this post quick.  I'm so excited this is my last day of work before my Christmas vacation!  I'm going to be off work until January 3rd.

This fun card is for this week's Totally Stampalicious Challenge - It's All Faux Fun.  The challenge is to make some faux brads, stitching, flowers, metal, etc.  I made faux brads using circle punches and stickles!  The stamp set is  Attitude Ruby also from Totally Stampalicious.   I initially tried doing faux stitching but it wasn't pretty.  I need more practice at that technique.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card!
