Happy Canada Day!

Stamps:  Daisy Scarlette
Paper:  Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Blush Blossom, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: Scallop Border Punch, Three for You Punch, Small Pearls, Large Circle Punch, Large Scalloped Circle Punch, White Gel Pen

I’m here today with a super FUN Totally Stampalicious challenge.  This week’s challenge is a color combo.  We want you to use Red and White in honor of July 1st - Canada Day!  I couldn’t resist using the newly released Daisy Scarlette stamp set from the Totally Stampalicious Bugaboo line.  Doesn’t she look just fabulous in RED?  Scarlette in Red….well it’s just perfect!
This card measures 5 x 5.  The scalloped square base of this card was made using the Stampin Up Scallop Edge Punch.  I used the tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers (SCS) to create the scalloped square.  You can find the tutorial HEREGetting the corners right was a little tricky.  It took me a few tries to get a square I liked.  It's still not perfect but it's good!  HINT:  The little flowers in the corners do a great job of covering up the less than perfect corner scallops!

Once I made the base I needed to make it stand on it’s own.  I’ve never made an easel card before so this seemed like a good opportunity to try it.  I found the Easel Card Tutorial on SCS as well.  The easel was really easy to make.  You can find that tutorial HERE.

Graduation 2011

Stamps:  Grad Girl (MFT)
Paper: Basic Black, Real Red, White Swirled DP
Ink:  Basic Black, Real Red, Blush Blossom
Accessories:  Modern Label Punch, Small Star Punch

Today I'm sharing a graduation card.  I used the Center Step Layout from Splitcoast Stampers for this card.  The stamp set Grad Girl is from My Favorite Things.  I love the image and the great sentiments that came with this set.  The white embossed cardstock is one of my favorites.  I just love the embossed swirl pattern.  It's elegant and subtle and adds a nice dimension to this card.

Something Old Something New

Huge THANKS to everyone that played along with us for last week's Anything Goes Challenge at Totally Stampalicious!  We had over 100 participants...Woo Hoo!!!!

This week's Totally Stamalicious challenge theme is Here Comes the Bride.  We want you to use something Old and something New on your card or project!  I made this adorable Ava Flowers card using old cardstock (retired Barely Banana from Stampin of my favorite colors) and a NEW Punch for my sentiment and new White Twine.  I used the layout from this week's sketch challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  That's it for me today.  Stop over to the Totally Stampalicious Blog to see all the great inspiration the Design Team has for you!

Teachers Gifts

It's been a super busy week!  My daughter Emily finished 3rd grade on Thursday and we left Thursday night for Cedar Point (an amusement park in Ohio about 2 1/2 hours by car from our home in Michigan).  We spend the entire day at the amusement park on Friday.  We had perfect weather and short lines for all the rides.  To accommodate my gluten free diet I had a list of foods from the amusement park that were safe to eat and whenever I wanted a meal or snack I had to hunt down the GF foods.  I was very impressed with the information the park provided for me and I was able to enjoy my trip without getting sick!  Overall it was a fabulous end of the school year celebration!  That brings me to the reason I started this post.  Today I'm sharing the teachers gifts I made for Emily's teachers.  I made these clothes pin magnets.

I found directions on several websites and blogs and figured they wouldn't be too hard to make.  They did go together pretty easily.  I decorated both sides of the clothes pins with designer paper.  I'm not sure it was necessary to do that but I do think it looks nice.

Here's how I did it:

  • Clothes Pins (Dollar Store)
  • Designer Paper
  • Mog Podge
  • Paint Brush or Sponge Brush
  • Crystal Effects
  • Neodymium Disc Earth Magnets 1/4 inch x 1/16 inch (bought on Ebay)
  • E-6000 Glue

Trim Designer paper to fit your clothes pin
Apply Modge Podge to one side of Clothes Pin
Lay paper over Modge Podge
Press smooth (Allow to dry)
Apply Modge Podge over paper (Allow to dry)
Appy Crystal Effects over paper  (Allow to dry)

Apply Magnets to back of clothes pin using E-6000 Glue (Allow to dry)

Ribbon Throw Down

Stamps:  Dottie Desserts
Paper:  Night of Navy, White Swirl Embossed DP, Real Red CS, Brushed Silver, Whisper White
Ink:  Real Red, Blush Blossom, So Saffron, Brocade Blue
Accessories:  Night of Navy, Whisper White, Red, and Silver Ribbons; Small Star Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Stickles

This week's Challenge at Totally Stampalicious is to use at least 3 different ribbons on your card.  Okay so it's not actually a throw down but for me it was a chance to try something new.  I wanted to find a creative way to put three ribbons on my card so I went to the Splitcoast Stampers resources and found this Ribbon Blossom tutorial.  In the tutorial Pam uses 50 strips of ribbon.  For my ribbon I used a total of 12 strips.  This ribbon blossom reminds me of fireworks.  I knew Dottie Desserts would be a perfect image for this fun card!  She looks like she's taking her pie to the State Fair for the bake contest doesn't she?  I just love Dottie.

I'm also including this card in the following Challenges:

ABC Challenge:  Three Different Embelishments (Ribbon, Stars, Stickles)
Bugaboo Stamps:  Anything Goes
Crafts and Me:  Punch it Out - Stars & Sentiment Punched out
Crafty Hos Challenge:  Summer Let the Fun Begin
Cute Card Thursday:  Challenge 167 - Embelish it - Embelish your Image - Stickles
Fab 'n' Funky Challenge:  What'eva
I Did it Creations Challenge:  Hats  (Chef's Hat)
Paper Sundaes Challenge:  Let's Get Sentimental
Totally Paper Crafts Challenge #69:  Get Fruity  (Cherry Pie)
Truly Scrumptious:  Summer Sparkle (Stickles and Sparkly Ribbon)

I'm glad I tried something new and I hope you'll join us this week for the 3 or more ribbon challenge at Totally Stampalicious

June 2011 Calendar Page

Today I'm sharing the calendar page I made for June.  I made the letters for June and the calendar on my computer.  The calendar was made in Microsoft Excel and the letters were just typed in to MS Word.  I printed the calendar and the letters out on Stampin Up whisper white paper.  I used the adorable Violet Scarlette stamp set for the image.  I thought her flowers went well with this floral dp.  I got the calendar stand from Taylored Expressions.  I still need to get it stained or painted.  Maybe before my July calendar ;0

This week's challenge at Totally Stampalicious is to make a 3-D project.  They're offering a prize to one lucky player so be sure to check out the challenge this week!
